  • A great healthy snack. Good to use for alternatives to dairy. Great to add to muesli and granola, making your own nut butter. Add to stir fries and currys. Nice addition to salads.

    High in fat (but lower than almonds, peanuts, pecans and walnuts) and a good source of essential fatty acids, carbohydrate, B vitamins, calcium, copper, magnesium, iron, zinc and folic acid.

    Nut consumption is associated with a lower risk of dying from stroke, heart disease, respiratory disease, infections, diabetes and even cancer. An average of around 12g a day is recommended. There is such a thing as too many nuts due to oxalates, avoid regularly eating more than a cup a day.

    A lot of cashew farming in Vietnam occurs on “small, often wild or naturalized plantations” that don’t use any fertilizers or pesticides. If pesticides are used cashew nuts naturally have two protective coverings — the outer shell and the inner “testa” layer — shielding them from the direct application of pesticides.
