Orzo (Organic)

  • Orzo, Italian for "barley" due to its resemblance to the grain in its unprocessed form, is a small rice-shaped pasta. It's classified among pasta as "pastina".

Perfect for adding to soups, stews, or fresh salads. Can be used as an alternative to rice or pasta in dishes.

Instructions: Boil in a pot of salted water for 8-10 mins and drain it as you would any other pasta.

If you want a slightly creamier result, orzo can be cooked as you would rice. Boil 1/2 cups water for each cup orzo. Add 1/4 tsp salt, then the orzo and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and most of the water is absorbed, about 8 to 10 minutes. Cover and let stand an additional 2 minutes.

If you're planning to use it in a soup, make sure to add it towards the end of simmering so that it doesn't get overcooked.
